What's the difference between AI readiness and AI maturity?

AI readiness is a one-time snapshot of whether your data, processes, and team are prepared to start an AI initiative. AI maturity describes an ongoing level of capability — how broadly AI is actually integrated into workflows, governed, and measured over time, well beyond the first project.

Most businesses only need to think about readiness right now, since maturity is something you build toward over months and years of actually using AI in production. Confusing the two leads some companies to over-invest in governance frameworks before they've even run a single successful pilot — readiness should come first, maturity is what you earn afterward.
